Vets 4 Vets is proud to host the THIRD ANNUAL “Run Down the Demons” fundraising event that is geared towards active military and veteran communities who have developed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of their military service.
Though we knew that active duty members and veterans were suffering from PTSD, this music video provided us with the perspective that hit extremely close to home. As members of our Armed Forces are coming home and feeling alone in their struggles with the invisible wounds of war, we wanted become a helping hand in ensuring that our Brothers and Sisters know that they are not alone. We also aim to mitigate the stigma correlated with veterans with PTSD as many may think that ALL veterans have developed PTSD.
The result of the aforementioned information will ultimately provide surrounding communities and veterans with a better environment to develop friendships, as well as helping veterans in eliminating the feeling of being isolated from their peers, neighbors, and possibly society as a whole.
The “Run Down the Demons” 5K endurance run will consist of five obstacles that will be provide participants with an experience that a veteran with PTSD may experience – without the combat exposure, of course! Each obstacle will contain different objectives where you may experience physical or mental (or both) exhaustion. There will also be “fact boards” that will contain statistical data pertaining to the issues that veterans are currently faced with; you may or may not want to keep an eye open for them.
